NATIVE ANIMAL SUPPORT FUNDblackfrogdesign

Terrifying and unrelenting fires continue to decimate around Australia in one of the worst fire seasons seen in this country’s history.

Since the bush fire season began in August 2019 in Australia, more than 6.3 million hectares of land has been destroyed nationally. Lives have been lost, hundreds of homes have been lost and dozens of fires are still burning across the states.

Among the lives lost are the vast number of native animals. It is impossible to estimate the number of animals that have perished with the fires or to predict the impact that dire food and water shortages, as well as habitat loss caused by the fires and drought, will have on wild populations.

WILDLIFE VICTORIA

Wildlife Victoria’s mission is to help and protect wildlife through rescue, education, and advocacy activities. They respond to community reports of distressed wildlife and facilitate the care needed. They promote community knowledge and care of wildlife and advocate for the protection and welfare of wildlife.

Wildlife Victoria receive about 80,000 requests for help a year and help over 50,000 animals. This number is obviously drastically increased with the recent bush fires and they need your support.

‘WIRES’

‘WIRES’ (NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc.) is registered with the Australian Charities & Not-for-Profit with a mission to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same.

‘WIRES’ has been rescuing and caring for native animals for over 30 years and have never seen a concurrent series of emergencies events like those that began in November. In December alone WIRES 1300 line received over 20,000 calls and volunteers attended over 3,300 rescues.

In the efforts to help in the aid of our native animals, The Red Balloon Candy Artisans are donating 40% of all online sales for the month of January to the ‘WIRES’ organisation.
